Week8 (Politic 2) : I'm Backing My Boy, Kim Jong-il Tells China

Kim Jong-il had appeared in China. He went by train. He went for agreement of relationship between their countries. China was a country that support North Korea. North Korea was a poor country. They were necessary for supporting from other country. China seemed to be happy if Kim Jong-un would be the next leader. Absolutely, North Korea would do like China wanted. Kim Jong-il was expected to retire because he was more over old than to work. He also had a lot of disease that waited for killing him.
In my opinion, North Korea was ever part of China, so China has to help them anyway. Although, North Korea ever made mistake or problem to other countries. I am sure China still give a hand to North Korea. All in all, Blood is thicker than water.

Week8 (Politic 1) : North Korea's Kim Not Seen Heading for Retirement Yet

The meeting of ruling party was postponed to next month. It was biggest meeting in 30 years.
The reason was Kim Jong-il, the leading dictator of North Korea, was sick. The meeting was set for argument the new leader. It was expected that the son of Kim Jong-il, Kim Jong-un, would delegate (=replace) for his father. Kim Jong-il suspected of suffering a s
troke in 2008. Kim had got leading position when his father died. He hold his position for a long time. Kim was well known from around the world because he consider developing nuclear weapon. In addition, he was always sick.
In my opinion, holding position of Kim Jong family is not good effect in long time. Because, North Koreans will not be evolved enough. They will stick in attitude of this family. They have to follow this family. I absolutely disagree if the person in Kim Jong family get the leading position. To sum up, North Korea equate Kim Jong family.

Week7 (Business 2) : Business with North Korea Carries on Quietly

Pyongyang International Trade Fair 2009

In general, the country, which makes problem to other country, will be boycott. The North Korea is that country. It seems to be hard to develop in many sides. One of them is business. The North Korea had made 2 big problems. The first one is development nuclear weapon. They said they have right for making the nuclear weapon. However, the whole did not agree with them because it would make violent problems. The other is attacking the South Korean ship to sink. It was the very, very big problem. Until this day, the North Korea refuse evidence that UN identify that the North Korean ship attacked.
Finally, I think they are becoming to be boycott because the evidence is absolutely true. They made lots of soldiers died. It was not worthwhile. They did with indifferent. All in all, they may be punished more than boycott.

Week7 (Business 1) : Foreign investors brave North Korea

Although, the North Korea are spending time for development nuclear weapon. There are still many investors to do business in the country. Mr. Roger Barrett is one of them.
Mr. Barrett, 49, a former troop commander in the British army who has 10 years experience of doing business in the North Korea, recently opened a branch of his consultancy firm, Korea Business Consultants, in Pyongyang. He said there was growing interest in the country after chairman Kim Jong-il introduced economic reforms in 2002. He also said he was not alone. He had a lot of friends who did business like him. He said even in the middle of a nuclear crisis there were foreign investors in the country, and their numbers were increasing. He believed the 2002 economic reform was for real, and the country was gradually moving towards becoming a market economy.
In my opinion, the main cause is mineral coals in their country. There is a main resource. The North Korea can survive because of it. They have a lot of mine. Foreign investors may see this point. It is good for investing.

Week6 (Environment 2) : Environmental Crisis

Deforestation was the main cause of the crisis. The report was written by North Korea's national co-ordinating council for the environment with the UN's Development and Environment Programs. The head of UNEP said Pyongyang had shown its preparedness to work with world community to safeguard nature. The report listed a catalogue of careless and over-utilization of resources. It also said time was short to put things right. The report was produced by officials from 20 government and academic agencies, with training and guidance from the two UN programs. Finally, I think the report said the right thing because of North Korea habits. They always use resource over the reason. They are also cause of global warming. All in all, North Korea are not nature conservator.

Week6 (Environment 1) : North Korea Environmental Pollution

The North Korea was blamed by IOEP, news source of environment pollution. They said The North Korea had serious problem. But, president Yi Chong asserted that we was having big success. It had been completed in this field of environmental protection in the past. Then he said visitors who ever visited to the North Korea could easily confirm that pollution had not reach the levels experienced in other countries. Finally, Conclusion of IOEP was contrast. they said air pollution was moderated by consumers on electricity more than on fossil fuels. It was both used in industry and heating of city residences. Air pollution was limited by restriction on using gasoline-powered vehicles because of lack of oil. The quantity of water pollution was unknown, but it did not seem to be a serious problem in P'yongyang. In my opinion, I think The North Korea still has a thing that maybe good. It is resource. All in all, The North Korea still has something is better than the others.

Week5 (Science & Technology 2) : North Korea is Exporting Nuclear Technology

The North Korea exported nuclear and missile technology to Iran, Syria and Burma. They used front companies to do like this. The North Korea began to be watched by other nations since they announced they could create nuclear weapon. After that, they had testing program in 2006 and 2009. UN tried to make a stand with the North Korea, but they finally failed agreement. Before that, The North Korea ever made a problem. They made a South Korean warship sinking in March. It is cause of 46 soldiers died. However, North Korea still refused allegation. In fact, UN found pieces of missile rocket around the warship. That is evidence. But, North Korea said that is fake. Other countries wanted to make them be terrorist. Finally, they then were boycotted. I think I agree with others because North Korea always makes problems. All in all, North Korea, they make a problem again.

Week5 (Science & Technology 1) : N.Korea Reveals New Battle Tank

Authorities had analyzed video clip that showed a new battle tank on North Korea state TV. The latest news was Pokpung (Storm), It was only a fake news. A South Korean army told the Pokpung appearing was an developed version of the North Korean Army's late model "Chonma" (Flying Horse) in terms of firepower and facile last week. The Pokpung tank is also known as the M-2002, as it is assumed to have been rolled out in 2002. A magazine published by the Defense Ministry said, weapon with a 125mm or 115 mm gun, the Pokpung appears to be really improved version of the former Soviet Union's T-62 tank. It seemed to be more heavily weapon with a 14.5 mm KPV anti-aircraft machine gun, which was more powerful than the 12.7 mm machine gun mounted on older tanks. It also set up with a laser range finder and an infrared searchlight, the tank is assumed to have a higher accuracy as it has a more modern fire control system than earlier models. The magazine said that the Pokpung had been built at the Ryu Kyong-su Tank Factory since it was developed in the 1990s. Finally, The North Korean Army has about 3,900 tanks, much more than the South Korean Army's 2,300, but they are believed to perform much more poorly. I think although the North Korea will have anything else. It still has the old one or come from other country as second hand. All in all, the news is a rumor.

Week4 (Transportation 2) : Mapping Korean Railways Using Google Earth

While North Korea is developing their weapons. First of all, we know they are lonely nation. Even a railway map is close to classified information. Until a doctoral student at George Mason University is using satellite images to get a closer look at a historically secretive country. North Korea is once again in the news because of its growing nuclear threat and the imprisoning of two American journalists. "I am confident I have mapped over 90 percent of the system above ground" Melvis told Wired.com
Finally, I think that student said is true. Because, North Korea is a close country. They may have something that is wrong in their nation. To sum up, North Korea may not be like that I said but we should see them carefully.

Week4 (Transportation 1) : The Main Means of Transportation

In North Korea, there are few motor vehicles for availability so railways are the principal means of transportation.
The basic railway pattern runs in north-south direction, roughly parallel to the coasts, with branch lines to the river valleys. Because of the high mountais, there is only one east-west railway line, between Pyongyang and Wonsan. The west-coast line runs from Kaesong near the South Korean border to Sinuiju on the Chinese border, connecting the major cities. From this main line a branch from Pyongyang southwestward to Nampo connects centres of machine building and foundries. Another lineruns northward from Pyongyang to Manpo on the Yalu River, connecting the western interior to China's northeastern provinces. The major railway on the east coast runs from Wonsan northward to Najin and continues to Namyang on the Chinese border. Several branch lines serve the in land areas and mining centres.
Finally, you can see this country is not prosperity. They still use railways in main transportation. All in all, North Korea's transportation is still stagnant.

Week3 (Education 2) : Education in North Korea

Education in the DPRK is strictly controlled by the government. Children go through one year of kindergarten, four years of primary education, six years of secondary education, and then on to universities. The most famous university is Kim Il-sung University. Other notable university is Kim Chaek University, which focuses on computer science, Pyongyang University of foreign studies, which trains working level diplomats and trade officials, and Kim Hyong Jik University, which trains teachers.
Students in North Korea must attend school for 11 years, beginning at age 5. Students must wear uniforms provided by the government, and many students receive room and board from their government.
Students study music, art, math, the Korean language, and social education. Social education includes studying about the former leader Kim Il Song, and "Communist Morality". In later years they learn about the policies of the communist party. Social education also provides students with a controlled environment in which to learn.
Finally, I think education controlling of North Korea is mad. Because, students will be protected from bad or unplanned influences. Because of communist is not freedom system. All in all, Education of North Korea is failure.
